Eastway Ward
I have lived in Eastfield for 17 years.and I am a local Property Developer.
I enjoy spending time with my family.
I have lived in Eastfield for approximately 3 years now and I used to live in Irton, In my spare time I volunteer for National Coast Watch Institute (Coastguard) I was and International Coach Driver
What I like about Eastfield is the people and their friendly attitude to new comers. I would like to see Eastfield appreciated for the beautiful place it is and not what it is perceived to be
I moved to Scarborough 30+ years ago with my family to buy and run a seafront hotel in North Bay and after 10 years we sold up and moved to Seamer. I have lived in Eastfield for 11 years and am now happily retired after a career mostly spent in office work. I volunteer at the Community Free Fridge and the Residents Association and I am also involved with the PACT group, an initiative for Eastfield hoping to bring long overdue improvements to the local area for all residents, young and old . I am heavily involved with the plan to build a skatepark on the old Overdale school site and along with colleagues on the PACT group we are steadily heading in the right direction. I joined the town council in June 2022 so I am still a newbie but Im hoping to work together with all interested parties to make Eastfield a better place to live, work and play for all.
My name is Hayley Burn, I am a single parent, I have lived in Eastfield for almost 20 years. Before living in Eastfield I lived in Crossgates where I attended Seamer school and then went on to attend George Pindar school.
I work in and around Eastfield in schools, nursery’s, and carrying out home visits as a speech therapy assistant, I have recently left the NHS after 27 years and now work for a private speech therapy company.
I am also chair of the Eastfield Community Free Fridge which has almost been open for a year and is going from strength to strength. A second opening is on the horizon!
I am also part of the Eastfield Residents Association Group and enjoy thinking of fun events for residents to come to and enjoy themselves!
I recently joined Eastfield Town Council to find out how the council represents the residents of Eastfield and to see if I could contribute and make Eastfield a better place.
What I would like to see happen is what every other resident wants, better facilities, better bus times and most importantly for me is to change the perception that Eastfield is a poor place to live and work!

moved to Eastfield early in 2020 from Horwich near Bolton. I served on the Town council in Horwich including a term as Town Mayor and vice chair of council as well as chairing their planning sub committee. Prior to this in Bolton I chaired a Residents group, was chair of parent/teacher association, I have been vice chair of governors for a large school, and was treasurer for my trade association for many years.
Since arriving I became a member of the founding group that set up the both the Food fridge and the current Residents Association and am still heavily involved with both groups. I am also currently a member of a PACT group working for the regeneration of Eastfield.
I am also active in the local Labour Party.
I hold a Honours Degree in sociology which I achieved as a sixtieth birthday present to myself.
I have lived in a number of towns in England so I know from experience that Eastfield stands up well in comparison to most with its access to the coast and beautiful countryside. However Eastfield suffers from a lack of a centre which would take it from a housing estate to a proper independent town. It is very important that the newer parts of the town are fully assimilated and we develop a core of retailing and recreation facilities that we can be proud of. Furthermore transport links to neighbouring towns other than Scarborough need development.
The reorganisation of local government currently underway should be seen as an opportunity to try to create a local identity and improve local services so that Eastfield can be a place we can all be proud to say we live in.
