Eastfield was planned in the late 1940s as a low density municipal housing scheme to meet and increasing social housing need in Scarborough. Construction started in the 1950s and over the next 30years around 400 acres of farmland were transformed into an attractive and desirable new estate,
In the 1960s and 1970s Eastfield had grown to become of of the largest estates in the region and was a vibrant community with plentiful employment opportunities at the newly developed Eastfield Industrial Estate.
